Smile Day: A Note of Encouragement

October 5, 2022

Hey hey!

It's been a tough year for everyone but today is the World Smile Day!

A day to put all difficulties aside and just enjoy a moment of happiness. Whether it's spending time with friends and family, watching your favorite movie, or just taking a stroll outdoors, today is a day to appreciate the good things in life.

The Power Of Smile

Smiling is one of the easiest ways to make someone else's day. It's a gesture that is universally understood and appreciated. And, unlike many other things in life, smiling is something that is completely free. Whether you're at work, at home, or out with friends, taking a moment to flash a smile can brighten someone's mood and make their day just a little bit better.

Smiling is also good for your own health and wellness. Did you know that smiling releases endorphins, which have been proven to reduce stress? So not only will you be making someone else feel good by smiling, you'll also be improving your own mood in the process. It's a win-win!

How to Make Today Smile Day

Now that you know all about the power of a smile, it's time to put that knowledge into action. Here are a few easy ways you can make today Smile Day:

  • If you see someone you know, take a moment to say hello and give them a smile. You may even want to strike up a conversation and ask how they're doing.
  • If you're out running errands, take the time to chat with the cashier or the person bagging your groceries. A friendly face and some pleasant conversation can go a long way.
  • Making eye contact and smiling at strangers may feel awkward at first, but it's really not that bad once you get used to it. Besides, who knows? The stranger you smiled at may just need that small act of kindness more than you realize.
  • Call up a friend or family member whom you haven't talked to in awhile and catch up with them over the phone. Hearing the sound of a loved one's voice is bound to put a smile on your face.

Finally, take some time for yourself today and do something that makes YOU happy. Whether it's reading your favorite book, taking a walk outdoors, or enjoying a piece of cake (we won't tell), taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of others.

What made you smile today?

On Smile Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to appreciate the good things in life.

So take a break from the news and social media, put on your favorite outfit, and go out and enjoy yourself! And when you get home, take a few minutes to write down everything that made you smile today.

We could all use a reminder of the good in life right about now.
